How Instructional Designers Approach Conflict with Faculty

Using a multiple case study approach, we interviewed 14 instructional designers working at different universities to explore the approaches and strategies they utilized when experiencing conflict with faculty. While past practitioner-based research has identified employ cultivate effective productive collaborations faculty, there are no similar publications examining how practitioners in field handle faculty during these collaborations. Based on an analysis of interview data, uncovered prevention management used by that synchronizes three phases typical collaboration timelines: (1) outset (2) collaboration; (3) post collaboration. Results suggest interconnectedness across strategies. This article concludes discussion our findings including future implications.
